3. Boulders to the Rescue

Boulders are not just a large rock in the yard. These often will catch the eye and make it look more natural. Plus, it helps provide a nice place to put taller grass, garden plants, and flowers. You can go anywhere that landscaping items are sold to find boulders. Keep in mind that the price will vary based on the size you are looking at. If you pick a large boulder, it will have to be delivered and placed. No matter what size you choose, keep in mind that it should be nested into the ground just a little. You should make them look like they have been there a while not just rolled out of a truck and stuck there.

4. Grow Flowers that are Self-Seeding

These types of plants are going to save you money in the long run. All you need to do is purchase a pack of seeds and you will have flowers forever. However, there is a secret to getting them to succeed after you plant them. You want to make sure that you are sowing them. This makes them have a better chance to succeed. You also want to allow some flowers to seed. Do not dehead the flowers at the end of the season. Some of the best self-seeding flowers include
  • Sunflowers

  • Zinna
  • Rudbeckia
  • Calendula
  • Poppies

5. Cheap Planters Are the Way to Go

You should purchase cheap planters but you should dress them up. Twine is a wonderful way to add flare to your cheap planters. Simply grab a hot glue gun and let your imagination go. You can create customized looks that no one else will have.
You can make your one-dollar planter look like a fifteen or more-dollar planter. Keep in mind it is also easy to paint twine. You may want to add more customization to your pot after you are done with the twine. Keep like items together in your garden.
Do not go super crazy. You should try to have some type of theme.

6. Gravel Pathways

Concrete is expensive and can be a hassle to keep the weeds out in the garden area. It is also hard to maintain when there is grass surrounding it. Gravel is a great way to go when you want to create a pathway in your garden, leading to the front door or even your garage. There are many types of gravel that you can choose from to match your style

7. Lights

You want to make sure that you are not tripping and falling as night falls.
You should illuminate any pathways, driveways and staircases at night.
